3M’s Automotive Aftermarket Division (AAD) was launching the latest innovation in their paint system for vehicles, the 3M PPS™ Series 2.0 Spray Cup System, and was looking for new ways to showcase this reinvented product line.
Solution
3M partnered with Victory Management Group to create a targeted campaign mixing traditional marketing with experiential marketing. A public relations and social media campaign complimented the print and digital ads and two events supported the product launch. The first event was held in Detroit, Michigan at the Woodward Dream Cruise. Victory Management Group identified and executed a three-day experience that not only included 3M AAD’s inclusion in the Woodward Dream Cruise with an onsite activation area but also included an exclusive industry event held at the Ford Piquette Plant, birthplace of the Model T. Vehicle painters from around the world were brought in to showcase their talents, including legendary automotive designer, Chip Foose. The second event was held at the annual SEMA show in Las Vegas, Nevada. Victory Management Group worked with 3M AAD to create the 3M Automotive Outdoor Showcase which included a demo trailer with product demonstrations and celebrity appearances. An industry event was also held at the site to promote the new product.
